how do I reload or fix my BIOS?

I was trying to download a BIOS update to a flash drive, for my other computer, and I think it downloaded and changed my BIOS settings? How can it be fixed? Please give all details. like how to find out what type of computer it is, as this one was put together several years ago. My email is not working anymore, since this happened.
