Strong smell of something burning in middle of cycle?

I have a Bosch dishwasher, model # SHU9915UC. It is approxametly 8 years old and has been operating perfectly and we run it about 3-4 times per week. After turning it on this morning... about 1/3 of the way through the cycle, I smelled a strong burning smell. It smelled like it could be electrical in nature. However, it was still operating okay, although I did turn it off immediately.
