Mend 9448 Door Arm Alarm

Scantonic 9448+ arming with front door open?

I can only arm the alarm when the front door (with the magnetic strip on) is open. Is this right? Everytime we go to bed whether it's 11pm or 1am we have to open the front door tap the code in and then close the door again. Are all 9448+'s like this?
