How can I fix my Miele dryer?

I have the same question. My Miele Novotronic T490 Dryer is working but has no heat. Can I fix it or do I need an engineer?

The high power heater element had fused open at one end on mine. I opened the heater housing by unfolding all the tabs and gently opening it at the end opposite where the connecting wires are. Straighten the last coil of the thick heating element so you have enough wire to connect to and scrape the last 1/2" clean with a sharp blade. Cut the old crimp off the connecting wire, and insert both wires fully into the metal centre of a yellow butt splice that's had the plastic insulation removed. Make sure they overlap the full length of the splice. Crimp tightly at both ends and in the centre to ensure a good connection, then reassemble the heater, making sure the top mica sheet is in the correct place. Reassemble the machine and enjoy, knowing you've saved a load of money.

Sorry to dig this up, but I'm trying to fix this atm. There are six bolts on the circumference but no bolts in the center. However, something seems to be holding the back of the drum so I cannot continue. Any ideas?

I have the same problem with my miele dryer. I have followed the instructions kindly provided ans gained access to the back of the dryer, but can't lacate the 2 screws. I can see 4 bolts ans 1 screw to the centre, but this doesn't look like it holds the heating element in place.

Any further help wold be appreciated.

More than likely that the thermostat has gone open circuit on the heater. To get to the heater you have to remove the back panel inside the drum. There are allen bolts (approx 9)around the circumference of the rear panel and two in the centre and behind the rear panel. To get to these, turn the drum by hand until you can see the allen bolts. Undo them until the are free. They are captive so will not fall out. When all bolts are out then the rear panel will come away. You will see the plastic drum bearing on the back of the rear panel. It has a groove in it and has to line up with the post from where it came when putting back together. You can now see the element. It is fixed with two screws. Lift the heater out and on the top edge is the thermostat.Take off wires to stat before removal. To check if it is open circuit, put a continuity tester across the terminals. If there is no continuity, it is open circuit. If this is ok then look at the element filaments. Check for breaks. If there are then it will need an element. All these parts are only available from Miele. Stat is approx £15 and heater is around £80. Putting back together is a reversal of taking apart but screw the drum bearing back first. You will not be able to fix it if you put surrounding bolts first.
