i have rented this house for 11 months and had no problems with the boiler. i haven't been using the heating regulary for at least the last 6 months. the last couple of days there has been water leaking from the bottom of the boiler.
is this due to it not being used?????
the pilot light works and when the boiler not switched on the water still heats up
what do i do????????
has your landlord issued you with a copy of the cp12
(landlord home owners saftey certifcate) if not he/she is breaking the law as this should be done on day tenantship starts
my advise to you is if you can safley turn off the gas,water and elctrical supply to the appliance
water and electric DONT mix so be carefull
next contact landlord if you dont get it resolved contact gas safe who will be more than happy to help you

You tell the landlord...
It's the landlords responsibility to fix it not yours - he/she is also obliged to have it professionally serviced every year.
If you mess with it you probably break the law with respect to Gas Safety Regulations but that's small beer - the landlord might hold you liable for this problem and any subsequent problem - keep well away from it.
Not to inform the landlord probably breaks the terms of your rental agreement and there's a sort of moral duty of care on you to do the right thing so it can be fixed before it becomes worse.
If the landlord seems disinterested contact the local council and seek their advice - protect yourself - write a letter to the landlord or the agents.
