can any1 help me with a problem tht is really doin my head in now !!! i av a desktop computer and the montior was fine wen i got it all ov a sudden the montior as started to go on standby mode as soon as i switch it on the green lite is there for about a sec then flicks to orange and standby i dont no anything about computers at all so i need help ere..... i av tryed a different moniotr and doin the same with tht aswell..... i cant do anything to download anything obviously as i cant get a screen up at all
Check the video card as suggested above also check the video lead is in properly and that none of the pins are damaged.

I had the exact same problem, it turned out to be the video card wasn't making a proper connection in the slot, so I left out the screw that holds it in and it worked! But get someone who knows what they're doing if they want to open it!

fanks for thati av looked and everything is in ok i cleaned the fan aswell and still not working... i dont understand how it just went off for no reason the tower is never moved or banged to lossen anything.... can utell me is it a case ov it needs putting on the rubbish tip then the computer?

make sure the video card is in place properly. It will involve opening the base machine, look at where the monitor cable is plugged in and make sure that the 'card' is in correctly. Unfortunately, if this isn't the problem, it may be a hardware problem with the motherboard, or a software problem. Hope this helps
