Next Electric Fire - Should the fan turn to make the light move?
We have just moved into a new house & there was an Electric Fire in place which appears to have been purchased from Next (white stone filled large bowl on shelf). The light & the heater both work, but it looks like the light should circulate using the metal circular fan type thing which is held in above the bulb. It doesn't appear to though. Please advise if you have one, should it do this, and if so what is making it turn? Any comments appreciated. Thanks

RE THE FAN NOT TURNING,THE HEAT OF THE LAMP RISING TURNS THE FAN,TRY LUBRICATING THE CENTRE IF THE FAN WHERE THE PIN TOUCHES,WITH A PENCIL LEAD.

The one I had years ago - different model but the same principle I suspect had a very light weight circular metal shutter/fan mounted on a needle point bearing. The heat from the bulb would rise and make the shutter turn gently in the rising air. This caused a flickering effect on the fake coals. When the kids got boisetrous the bearing sometimes got knocked off the needle. I got fed up continually putting it back on the needle and just left it hanging. Yours might just be a bit dusty.

Not too sure if I understand this one, but its usually the heat rising from the light bulb that causes the revolving fan to move - giving that flickering effect. Check that the fan is free - a tiny bit of WD40 on the shaft ends could help. An energy saving bulb here would defeat the object, of course!
