How can I fix my Hotpoint Aquarius VTD00 condenser dryer?

Having emptied the water tray of my dryer when the 'empty water' light came on it will now not extinguish. The dyer will start turning but the light remains on and this, i believe, stops any heat from coming on. I have checked that the water tray is fitted properly etc. Any ideas whats gone wrong?
