Mend Ford 6000 Problem Bought Standard

Ford Radio/CD problem?

I have just bought a T-plate focus with the standard Ford 6000 series radio/cd player. When I try to switch it on - nothing happens - no display or power lights - nothing at all. I have checked the fuse in the box behind the glove-box and that is OK. Is the unit dead, or am I missing something?
