Throttle Cable Repair?

2005 Yamaha 660 grizzly, while moose hunting had throttle stick several times. Fixed it by removing cover by throttle lever and lubing. Now it is stuck open and nothing i've tried will work. To replace cable, looks easy enough up top by throttle lever to remove but how do you go about other end by carb. Looks as though exhaust must come off in order to get at this cover with three screws in it that holds the other end of cable.
