Beko AA cycle 1000w spin?

Machine would do everything except take in water. Checked the impeller, pressure hose & switch and the sump hose. Seem to feel a "float ball" in the latter, shape felt right but I'm unsure if this is part of the hose. Eventually cleared the fault by removing the waste hose and blowing down it. This moved the blockage or placed it back in position - this blockage being the "float ball". Can anyone tell me if this should be in the sump hose? Frank.
