How do you stop the alarm on a citroen xantia ?

Does anybody know how to disarm the alarm without remote control after changing with new battery.

If you look in the owners handbook it tells you how.
There is a button which shows a speaker croosed out on it on the dash which you have to hold in for 10 seconds or so whilst starting and running the engine.
