Yes this should be simple although the springs can be dangerous if the uncoil in your face ! First job is to id your engine. Briggs and Stratton use a code like 12kf3-2ab-123456789 and this is often stamped in to the metal near the exhaust. You can then buy a new recoil spring from chamjet ltd at www.sparesgiant.com.
