Mend Panasonic DMR-E85H Years Worked Fine

Panasonic DMR-E85H does not turn on?

I've had my Panasonic DMR-E85H for at least 7 years and it has been fabulous. It worked fine Friday. I went away over the weekend and returned Monday to a black screen and it would not turn on. I tried several outlets- nothing. I'm hoping it's just the power supply. Someone said that theirs did this then turned on a few hours later. Any Suggestions? Any reputable repair places near Pittsburgh, PA? Thanks - I would love to fix it or at least be able to get the hard drive and its contents.

I just repaired a DMR-E85H that had a display meesage of "Please Wait". The fix is in the power supply by replacing a couple of components known as capacitors.

While your is somewhat different I believe it gets down to the power supply. If your unit doesn't respond in any way that is the first place a tech is going to look. These units are known for power supply failure.

Mine is also doing the same....it kept showing "please wait" for a long time and would come back on automatically after a long time. I had recorded a long sessions of tv shows. It has been a great recorder. I did find this web site but haven't tried it yet...
