Laminate worktop has lifted at a join?

Hi,
A new laminate worktop in the kitchen has lifted about 2mm on one side of a join. I guess something wet was left there for a while. Does anyone know how this can be repaired? I've had about a 40Kg weight on it for 24hrs but it hasn't flattened as far as I can tell.

In some circumstances this can be repaired, though it might require some fixings added to the underside of the surface to effectively pull it flat again, though before embarking on any repair get to the bottom of the reason why this has occurred in the first place. Once this is established then proceed with a fix, like I say there are a raft of various brackets that with some intuition can be used to pull the worktop flat again. Though I must echo the sentiment that if the worktop has swollen it may be time for a new surface. Hopefully this has helped

Hi Marc, just to enhance the fact that yes it would be a new replacement probablly to both pieces if its on the joint, just for future reference when the new worktop is installed who ever by, make sure that any cut outs or mason mitres are sealed before glueing together this will help protect against any spilages or damp and should not blow like your origonal, i know it doesnt help the situation now but will in the future, Regards, Dean http://www.kitchenworktopsonline.co.uk
