Glass smashed in cupboard door with wooden frame?please help?

Pane of glass in cupboard door in lounge has shattered and I need to get it replaced. It's plain glass but I don't know where to start to get a new pane fitted

Thanks for advice. Glass is in. Had to do it ourselves but managed it. Now just need to get rid of the chips in the wood and it will be as good as new. Thanks again

Look in local phone book for a glass supplier. Unscrew hinges of door & take the door down to glass merchant & ask them to put a new piece of glass in for you. Quite simple really.

Look closely at the glass frame from both sides...probably from the inside you'll see some tiny nails (called 'sprigs') that hold in some thin wooden beading. If you can prise the beading away from the framework really carefully the nails will pull out. Once all of the glass beads are out you can then press out the glass remnants - wear gloves! Measure the glass size carefully from top to bottom and left to right and deduct 4mm from each measurement. Give this size to a glass supplier together with a glass sample so that the thickness can be measured. When the new glass piece arrives, put a very thin fillet of putty onto the woodwork before the glass is put back in - this stops it rattling. Then, reinsert the glass beads, tapping the sprigs back in with a small hammer. Enjoy!
