Mend Ford Escort 1600 Changed Car

firing order in ford escort 1600 ?

hey guys i have changed the engine in my car from 1300 to 1600 cross flow but i m not sure whats the firing order it starts but back fires from the carby any 1 help please and which 1 is the 1234 on the distributor cap and on the engine pleas help

Set the firing order to 1-3-4-2, with the rotor arm pointing to number one cylinder on the distributor cap and connected to number one cylinder (front of engine) when this cylinder is at TDC on the compression stroke.
