If anyone else is trying to fix this problem, we just spent ages trying many different things trying to fix or 'reset' ours.
Finally we fixed it! We needed to reset the PCB printed circuit board. It's a bit tricky, and some might say dangerous as you have to reconnect the circuit boards whilst the power is on, so we take no responsibility if you get electrocuted!
It's best with 2 people.
Here's how we did it:
Turn off and unplug the power.
There are two screws at the back holding the lid on, unscrew and slide lid off towards the back of the machine, and put to one side. There are two circuit boards, the front panel, which is behind metal casing (where all the buttons on the front of the machine press on to), and another board in white plastic casing with lots of wires going to it. We'll call this the main box.
There is a screw holding the main box to the side of the machine behind the front circuit board. Unscrew this (don't drop the screw in the machine!!) and it will be loose so you can turn it horizontal. Locate 4 (maybe 5?) small blue wires connecting the front board to the main box. It is plugged in to the main box at the bottom. There is a little clip holding that plug in. You may need to un-clip them from the main box a bit so they are easier to trace/pull out. It's a bit fiddly, and best to get your helper person to hold the main box for you, but move the holding clip to one side with one finger, and pull the blue-wires plug out of the main box.
Now reconnect the machine with mains power and turn on. The on/off (power) LED should come on, but nothing else. This is a good sign. Now carefully reconnect the blue wires plug you just disconnected before trying to couch as little wires/cabling as possible (just in case, It's all plastic and should be safe enough, but you never know).
Once it's plugged back in firmly and the little clip is over the plug, the machine should then work again. ie. press the 'fabrics' option button etc. to set the desired wash cycle.
We then disconnected power again to put everything back together, and have done one load successfully so far.
Hope this helps someone. We were about to go and buy a whole new machine as didn't think this solution would work, but it did. We found it on another forum, and it sounded too good to be true, but I suppose it's a hard reset of the panel, so makes sense in a way.
