Mend Dirt Devil BD20055 Vacuum Cleaner Suction Carpet

Dirt Devil upright Featherlite has too much suction?

it feels like it is sucking up too much of the carpet, and is very sluggish to maneuver. New bag was just put on. It is an auto-adjust height model. I've cleaned out the hair on the brush and around the belt wheel.
