Mend Start Black Power

Help how can i fix this problem?

I switched my laptop off to stanby for an hour and when i went to use it, it won`t start.
There is a black screen and the power light does come on.
after a few minutes it goes offthe starts up again. this happens 3 more times then goes off completely
Help!!
