Hotpoint WMA 22 cycle will not start/door light flashing?

Why will cycle not start on Hotpoint WMA 22 washing machine. Door lock light just keeps flashing and does not cancel alowing programme to begin??? HELP! Cant afford a new washer!

As Wil said, this is sometimes a door lock issue.

I had the exact same problem on mine, lean on the door and the lock would then allow the machine to start (been like that for several years.)

The other day though the door lock light wouldn't stop flashing (like the door wasn't closed properly as before) it seems like a duff lock switch has finally done the control module in, there's a small section of PCB track near the right board connector (as you look at the front of the machine) with a small bit burnt away, bugger!

I'll try for a repair, but if no joy then a new board it is!

I had to replace the motor brushes a couple of years back aswell.

Oh well, at least you CAN get the parts for these machines!

The same has happened to our machine for several years now. We have to wait until the light starts to flash saying "door open", then lean hard on the door where the catch is to make the machine realise the door is shut. (When i say hard, generally it is hard enough to make the housing flex and make a 'clunk' noise, not hard enough to shift it across the lino!). Give it a try, it may save you a repair bill!

bull, this is not a door lock failure. Your PCB has fried due to a problem in either the motor or element. I have the same problem with WMA35, the PCB was fixed then it went bang again with just door lock lights remain flashing. Personally i think the motor brushes are causing the short but cant confirm this til later

Module blown due to doorlock failure. We stock the modules at ÂŁ44.90+vat inc post. You would need to obtain a doorlock somewhere else. www.emwelec.co.uk or call us on 0115 9652118
