Timing on a 12 hp briggs?

I pulled the piston out to check the rings and when I put it back together I knocked it out of time. I looked for the mark on the crank but do not see one. Usually it is the same dot that is on the cam. Is there another type of mark that they put on the crank. I do not see any marks on the gear that is on the crank. I had the piston at TDC but I had no compression at all. What would that line look like on the crank.
