Mend Rover 214i Engine Problem

help me solver my car problem?

i have just brought my self a rover 214i r reg when i drive it round on test drive it was great . when i was taking it home it had run out of petrol, seince then i have had trouble with it
it seems as if it wants to go but doesnt and also keeps on something like jumping . i would be greatful if you could help me understand why?.

Its possable that when you ran out of fuel all the trash in the tank acumulated and stopped up the fuel filter ...its also possiable that when you ran out of fuel the fuel pump was run dry and is damaged
