Tdci possibly overfuelling?

I've got a TDCI transit 54 plate, it runs fine majority of the time but every now and then when its been sat at lights or a junction the engine won't rev, when it does it puts out a lot of black smoke and rattles a lot, it eventually clears an then runs fine again
