How do I replace belts on a yard machine by mtd?

How do I replace the front and rear drive belts on a yard machine by mtd, 12.5 HP, LT, 38 inch cut riding lawn mower? Someone told me I would have to use lock ring pliers to remove the pulley, then put the belts on, and then replace the pulley. Is there a simpler way? Can you direct me with step by step instructions on how to replace these belts, or do you have an instruction manual or a picture showing how?
