juddering escort van motorway speed?

hi there can anyone help?I was driving my ford escort van 55 on the motorway i noticed several times whilst lifting my foot off the accelertor pedal it start to judder ,trying too stall but not ,only saved by putting my foot back on the pedal again,i've checked oil,water,and also changed the fuel filter.please help?
