ford mondeo diesel automatic changing to manuel?

i have converted my mondeo auto 2004 to 5 speed manuel everything works, reverse lights ok but cant sort out the speedo meter ,was told to jack the car up ,start it up and put it in gear then check the wires the one that pulses is meant to be the one but i tried it but nothing happened, please advise.
