why is my briggs & sratton classic 35 mower kicking out blue smoke ?

Hi
i think ive over filled my classic 35 with oil, its kicking out blue smoke and running slow and fast then stopping all together. also takes a while to restart.
can anybody help, and how can i fix this problem.
