how do I open the power head in my kenmore whispertone canister vacuum?

I just bought a second hand whispertone canister vaccuum, it works beautiful, but it's really dirty and I need to open the power head to clean it, and also to change the belt. It tells me to look up the owner's manual, which of course I don't have. Can anyone please, please help me with this problem?
