indicators and hazard lights on the blink!!!!?

over the last couple of months the indicators and hazard lights have become increasingly unreliable to the point now where they dont work at all. they used to work for a few seconds then switch off, sometimes working fine all day then wudnt work at all. any suggestions on how could fix myself rather thatn getting my face ripped off at a garage? im sure its something simple. my car is X reg Ford KA luxury. thanks wud appreciate any kind of response
