Mend Diplomat APM 8522 Washing Machine Motor Grinding Noise

Drum not spinning apm 8522?

My Diplomat washing machine is not spinning. It will start slowly making a grinding noise and then stop. Can the brushes on the motor be changed.
Any ideas appreciated

Is the machine drum turning during a wash? if not, I would suspect that the brushes are banjoed. Most motors allow the changing of the brush units.
