Bosch SMS65E02UK continually filling as it drains plus led stopped working?

Today my 7 year old bosch dishwasher stopped working. The machines makes a constant whirring noise as it fills and gulps the water back out of the drain hose. Co-incidentally at the same time the 3 digit LED display stopped working and is now blank. resetting the buttons has no effect, the machines keeps on filling and draining at the same time.

I wondered about taking it apart and looking at the float valve but can only see a few torx screws. Have taken them out but can't see how the lid removes to allow the sides to come off.

Any ideas/help appreciated
