How can a ceiling fan chain be fixed?

"Nameless" pulled the chain out of the ceiling fan from the housing (operates the fan), the chain operating the light is still operating. The fan is stuck in the on position. Before I take this apart and try to fix it, I want to know can this be fixed? Thanks
