what are the basic 2002 aprilla sr50 scooter carb settings?

I got a friends sr50 running after much neglect but i need to know the set up details for the carb because it wont run unless i choke it manually and as i try to increase the revs it dies - could the automatic choke be faulty? What is the best plug to use?
