Ouside Gas Meter?

New gas pipe work is being laid in my road. I have been told that I need to change to an outside gas meter. This is in the process of being done. The piping to the new meter is coping and has been fitted around the bungalow and down the drive, my neighbours feel this is unsafe incase a car hits it, should it be buried under the ground?

Hope someone can help, thanks

If the Drive is fairly narrow, it would be VERY SENSIBLE to Clip the pipe at a Height above which impact by a Vehicle is unlikely, The Gas Safety & Use Regulations stipulate that gas pipework should be protected from risk of damage,.. surely this is just common sence, oh and by the way, only a couple of weeks ago I was called to a gas escape caused by a car scraping a low level copper pipe along a drive, we re-routed pipe at high level to prevent a re-occurance

what you going on about ?
no regs have been broken by clipping a gas pipe to a wall down a driveway.

you clearly don't do gas.

I would contact the local council - they'll know and if action needs taking they will have the power to make things happen.

Good luck...

tell your neighbours to mind their own business.
i take it he knows nothing about the gas regs etc
as he is talking a load or rubbish.

it don't need protecting, covering etc
just copper pipe clipped to the wall.

tell him to take driving lessons if he can't get down a driveway.
