Mend Nissan Almera Dashboard

Nissain Almera 1.6 Auto R Reg - eractic rev counter?

Does anyone have any ideas for my eractic rev counter, as you are driving along it suddenly flips the whole way round and stays on maximium, sometimes dropping lower, but basically doing what it wants. there are no other issues, car runs great & is not revving up its just the counter.

I had a similar problem in an old fiesta, but i noticed that it was happening when i had lots of electrics on- like lights, heater, radio, windscreen wipers etc....
this might not be of any help, but the car was driving fine and i ended up just getting used to it!
