How do i get my RCA th1010 mp3 player to work?

ok. i have an RCA th1010 mp3 player. and it seems like its having some type of issues because when i turn it on with new batteries only the RCA logo shows up on the front of it. it doesnt ask me to listen to music or even show me the music that i have on the mp3 player. when i connect it to the computer it says the word"Ready" like its actually about to download.. but when i disconnect it from the computer, without the power already being on it just shuts off.. also when i turn on the mp3 player without it being in the computer it wont turn off unless i remove the battery out of the back..i really need help>> what should i do!!!!
