Mend Hotpoint C00201014 Washing Machine Broken Part

part which the door clicks into to keep the door closed?

I ordered a new part code c00201014 (the part which the door clicks into to keep the door closed) as I broke it being heavy handed. I unscrewed the the two screws which hold the part to the machine, then a piece dropped from the back and now the screw wont grab . . is this an essential part or providing the brackets firm, will the machine still work? . . . I apologise for my poor wording! simon

the door inter lock has fell off the back, need this refitted as it is a SAFETY DEVICE would not want little fingers opening the door with machine going at full pelt
remove the top and look in side will see switch dangling down refit it securely.
