Zanussi Jetsystem 1400XC, fails to wash, display leaps straight into rinse ?

Zanussi Jetsystem 1400 XC, Having loaded machine (light load), turn on, select wash cycle, press start, then the wash cycle indicator, afer approx 10 seconds, skips the wash and rinses, ges straight to spin displaying 3 minutes left of cycle, goes straight into the drain mode, then the macine stops.
Does anyne know why it leaps from 1hr 45mins to 3 mins in space of 10 seconds, and why the machine skips the wash cycle?
I have a good water feed, and drainage into the undersink 'u' tube, all with no blockages. Any ideas please.
