Mend MTD Yardman 1997

How do I remove auger assembly from MTD snowblower?

TRying to remove the auger assembly from a 1997 Yardman snowblower. 5.5hp dual stage. Do I need to take the auger gear box apart to get the auger out or is there a more simple solution?

Yes you need to split the gear box in order to separate the worm gear from the blower shaft. You will need to remove the roll pins from the from the auger shaft and remove the ends from each end of the blower housing. You then should be able to remove the shaft, augers and gear box out the front of the housing.
