qualcast 43s choke settings?

my old mower suffolk choke works like this with the lever sitting VERTICAL the choke flap is OPEN ,when you turn the lever through 90 degrees flap is FULLY CLOSED, may start USUALLY NOT, best position is 25 to 30 from the fully closed position,tickle the carb till it floods out the over flow pinhole, open the throttle lever a tiny bit , pull the rope bobs your uncle been doing mine this way for 25 years STARTS within half a pull of the rope.
