Starter switch left on for about an hour, mower off but headlites on. Started it up, no problem, ran for a few minutes and died. Fuse blew (20 amp). Replaced fuse, started up, started to mow, blew fuse. Went through 5 new 20 amp fuses. Mower has 29.5 hours on it. Cub Cadet LT045 rider. What may be problem?
Mine is a Cub Cadet SLT1550 that was blowing fuses. Sometimes I could mow for 45 minutes and sometimes the fuse would blow the instant that I would install it. I could "wiggle" the wires and that would sometimes help.
Well, as it turns out, I pulled the engine shroud and found the wiring harness was right "on" the starter gear and after numerous starts, had worn through a wire and so it would short out periodically. What a poor design!
Otherwise the tractor is doing fine.

I had the same problem. Mine died and my 12 year old neighbor thought it was the fuse. We did not have a replacement fuse so he puts a paperclip in there. He says "we use a paperclip all the time". Ran great for about 10 minutes and then died again. I opened the hood and there were flames coming out off the fusebox and off the paperclip!!! Ruined the fuse box....but I can't be mad at him - he was right. I was stupid not having the sense to go buy a fuse. Don't use a paperclip.

I had the same problem and found that the ground wire from the battery to the frame was loose.
Now I have trouble keeping the drive belt on...replaced twice already. A new problem today...now the blades won't engage. I guess I will be spending the weekend fixing instead of mowing...I should have bought a John Deere.
