I have a plastic water butt which has a vertical 10 cm
crack about 5 cm up from the base. Can it be fixed and if so how? It would be a great shame not to be able to use it.
dry of the water butt. and plate both side inside and out with plastic, over sized coat both sides with silicone and screw together. The screws will just hold it together till the silicone has went off. Or you could just line it with plastic internally

Rub down around the crack with sandpaper and buy a Fiberglass repair kit from an Auto shop and follow the instructions.The kit should contain Fiberglass matting and Resin+Hardener,the bigger the patch is the stronger it will be though it may not look to pretty,make sure the butt is empty and dry first.
