Mend Kenwood Chef Oil

Kenwood Chef Excel A902. Oil in mixing bowl?

Oil directly below fixing aperture, and could be leaking from gearbox? New seals or worse? This leaks all the time now and I find oil in mixing bowl every time I use machine.

I have recently re-built the gear assembly and repaired leak into bowl.
1) remove plastic covers top and bottom.top three screws on plate. Two small screws on lower section.
2) remove plastic handle on lever to front attachments.
3) should now see assembly.
4) unscrew two bolts at end of assembly.
5)split casing carefully and remove all the old grease.
6) fit if required new Rubber Seal (stock No 5031.6893-8339-4) on main spindle.
7)Re-assemble gear train a grease main gears only not too much with grease for food appliances( amazon)

Fix: Take it into a kenwood service centre to get the old grease cleaned out of the gearbox and repacked.
Notes:
What happens is about the age of 30. The grease in the gearbox sperates to solids and liquid. The oil then drops into the bowl. The gearbox is strong enough that you can keep using it but gearbox oil in your dough is not tasty.
You can have a crack at cleaning it yourself and repacking the gearbox with food safe grease (like they use in coffee machines/grinders) but its fidly and you have to clean all the internal parts. (if you dont clean all parts properly, you will just get oil in your dough again) Alternatively you may be able to buy a rebuilt gearbox at a reasonable price online and replace it. I dont beleive you can buy them new anymore.

Good Luck
