Mend Ferroli Optima Heating Pilot

Heating?

I have a ferroli optima boiler but I cannot light the pilot. When I push the gas knob in I cannot hear or see any sparking. When I open the front cover I can light the pilot manually. Why doesnt it spark?

two points:

1. possibly the high tension lead from the spark generator is damaged, or the spark generator is broken.

2. as you are not a qualified gas installer it is illegal for you to open the front cover of the boiler.
