How do i repair a crack in the wall of my sitting room???

Hi Jon,sounds like a fairly old house,theweakest points ,n houses are the window openings so any movement or shift inthe ground will create a crack, check to see there are no tree roots or heavy plants in the exterior area, if there are no other cracks or movement it may be safe to say its an old crack and can be repointed and then just replaster the wall

Yes the crack is on a external wall. Starts from under the middle of the window and runs down to the floor. Its about 2ft long and the width is about 1/8 of an inch, no wider than 3/16 of a inch. What i was thinking of doing is filling it in with bonding and leaving it shy 1/4 of an inch of the original plaster for skimming. Should be sound.... Right! What do u think d???

how big is the crack. is it on a external wall. could it be due to subsidence?
