2 way switching?

Hi

I have switch going into a a light then into another dimmer switch. It was disconnected due to redecs now I am having trouble reconnecting it, can someone run through the light connections. I have 2 switch wires and earth, twin and earth in and twin and earth out. I have wired lights dozens of times before but cannot get it working with both switches, I put it back as it came off. Either there is a fault in the wiring or I have made a schoolboy error.
