Hi your advice is usually pretty spot on.
I have a problem with a VW Transporter 1.9 TD 1997 with the ABL engine fitted.
The problem is when the van is cold or not been run for a while it is well slow ( struggles to go above or get to 30 MPH) even holding it in gears longer (thrashing it) the turbo's working fine. I used to run injection cleaner through the system and the problem went away, but now that makes no difference.I have checked the timming and that is spot on. The van does not have an Air Mass Meter or many of the sensors modern Diesels have fitted.
The van functions fine when it's up to operating tempreture.
Two new fuel filters have been fitted making no difference,Air filter been renewed,the diesel pump was fully re-conditioned last year.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
