Thanks wm man, it was completely gone. I've removed the drum and inner seal but am struggling to remove the bearing assembly. It is very stiff to remove. Do I need to knock from front towards the back or vice versa? (there is a flange at the back and I'm not sure if this is part of an outer sleeve that stays in place when the bearing kit is removed or whether the whole lot comes out just leaving plastic). Any advice?

easy takes about an hour and a half but it depends on how far it gone .Is there a lot of play in the tub or has it just started to make a noise. If the bearing has wll gone you may need a spider, making job more expenceive.
