Mend Computer Installing Xp

Why does my computer freeze when installing certain updates?

My computer (PC running XP Media) has been consistently locking-up when I attempt to install updates to certain programs. Java, Flash, and my anti-spyware program trigger it. Windows updates don't trigger it. Any idea what's causing this or how to fix it?

I have had the same issue all the time with many OS´s and the reason no-one is giving is this: these programs that we all use very commonly are so god damn full of bugs and no-one is willing to take the blame. Every company just wants to get money out of their own product as much as possible, that´s all.
